A documentary about David Lega from Sweden, and his work to start a disability centre in Tirana, Albania. David has participated in two paralympic games (Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000) and broke 14 world record in swimming. He is one of Sweden’s most famous athletes and is now working as a politician. In “David’s Stairway” we can follow his work to start a disability centre in Tirana from the very beginning to the end. We join David in all the problems he faces on the way to the opening ceremony, but we also take part in all of the fun, hope and laughs. He also talks a lot about his situation in a wheelchair and the way people react to and view disabled people.
David is a person who proves that anything is possible even when the odds are against it.
The documentary ”David’s Stairway” received during the autumn of 2004 large attention at the film festival in Cork, Ireland, and at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival where it won the award for best foreign documentary. ”David’s Stairway” also won the gold medal at the SFV-festival in Stockholm and has been purchased by both Finnish and Danish television.
